Every age. Every style. All Clicky.

Real respondents are not all the same, and your test respondents should not be either. SurveyTester bots can answer as AI personas, each with its own profile, answer style and pace, so your survey meets the people it was written for before fieldwork.

Why identical test respondents are not enough

Bots with fixed answers are perfect for checking routing and quotas. But some problems only show up when respondents behave like people.

Open texts all look the same

Twenty test respondents typing "test" tell you nothing about how coding, length limits or validation handle real answers, short or long, careful or sloppy.

Nobody drops out, nobody speeds

Real respondents abandon surveys, rush through grids and skip attention checks. If your tests never do, you never see what happens then.

One profile, one path

Age, gender, region and habits decide which questions, lists and quotas a respondent gets. One kind of test respondent only ever sees one version of the survey.

How SurveyTester personas work

  1. 1

    Describe the respondent

Write who should answer in plain words, for example "woman, 72, answers slowly, short open answers". "Generate with AI" turns it into a complete test case; you can still edit every answer.

  2. 2

    Give the bot a persona

The answer mode "AI with Persona" adds demographics, an open-text style, dropout and inattention rates and realistic delays.

  3. 3

See how each persona experienced the survey

Every run shows its path, its answers including the open texts the persona wrote, and a screenshot of every page. Insights add an estimated length of interview per persona, so you know it before you promise one to the client.

Questions teams ask

Are AI personas real respondents?

No. They are bots that answer like real people would, for testing before fieldwork. They do not replace a pilot with real respondents.

What can a persona do that a normal bot cannot?

Write open texts in a consistent style, drop out or answer inattentively at a set rate, and take realistic time per page. A standard bot answers exactly what you tell it to.

Where does the AI run?

By default on engines from the SurveyTester catalog, with no key needed. Admins can switch to their own API key or an OpenAI-compatible internal model, per feature, or turn AI off completely.

Meet your respondents before fieldwork does.

Send us a survey and tell us who answers it. We show you how it works for each of them.

Three ways to start. Pick the one that fits your week.

Some teams want to click around on their own. Some want a guide at their side. Some just want to know whether their survey is fine. All three are free, and none of them commits you to the others.
